How bidding works

LochBid is a marketplace. Auctions are run by independent UK auction houses. We never charge bidders — you deal directly with the saleroom for anything you win.

   Create a free account

   Register with email or Google. Verify your email address.

   Register for an auction

   Each auction is run by an independent auction house. You must register and accept that house's terms before bidding.

   Get approved

   The auction house reviews your registration. You'll get an email when you're approved to bid.

   Place bids

   Bid one increment at a time, or leave a maximum bid — we'll bid on your behalf up to your ceiling.

   Anti-sniping protection

   On timed lots, if a bid arrives in the final minutes, the closing time is automatically extended to give everyone a fair chance.

   Win a lot

   You'll receive an email confirmation. The auction house will invoice you directly for the hammer price, buyer's premium and VAT.

   Pay & collect

   Pay the auction house per their terms. Collect or arrange delivery directly with them.
